murder of crows

Today we were at the studio and we heard crows calling out.

I love the crows.

We went outside and there were 50+ crows circling something...finally we saw what...a hawk...with a small dead crow was on a roof top being chided and chased by the crows.  

On it flew...to a telephone pole...still holding onto the small crow...the crows swooped at it...trying to free their friend...even though it was too late.

It was dead.

Eventually the hawk flew to a tree that provided more cover and ate it's lunch.

Such is life.
The cycle of life.

Today I talked more to my sister, the one who for a year didn't speak to me. 
We talked initially about our mother...the death that has occurred...the funeral...then suddenly we were greatful to K for bringing us back together.  

As sucky as something might get...we are just a murder of crows...trying...trying to take care of each other.

return

whew

so good to be home.

There is nothing like being around 1,000 art therapists...there is always a dull chatter of their voices...and lots of art making.

It was an excellent trip.  The ranch where okeef worked was incredible.

on a sad note, my brother-in-law died.  i found out the night before I returned...thus the rip photo earlier...
my sister decided not to tell me til I returned, but my brother called me and told me
sad sad sad...
...too much to talk about here....

my kid...in a nutshell

M went to brownies today and they are working on a badge where they make puppets and put on shows.

So...they made puppets out of gloves...each kid made a puppet...some with multiple faces, the superhero brothers, the girls...so M's was "the sickest puppet in the world"

It was speckled with multi-color dots...measels and mump and pox

and blah-bity blah too

phone etiquette

Last night we had an art opening...probably one of our most atteneded.


It was crazy.  We partnered this month with the emergency pet hospital in the area and the show depicted art where the artist created a piece about the human and animal bond.

It was a fun nght...I am a bit tired and my sister calling at 7:20 am was not so welcome.  

Now my doggie is awake...and there is no turning back to my warm cozy bed.

today talked to my mom who doesn't remember much...she thought she had golfed 18 holes today...she was "up north" in her mind.

mommy gets packing

so weird


I can't believe I am going to leave my kid.
I may sound like a total freak, but I don't leave her very often.
I mean for trips.
We have done lots of weekend trips...this is the longest I have ever been away from her.  Both L and I.
I know she is going to be fine.  I am happy she gets to be in her own house...with grammie...and Oscar the fuzzy dog....

I just know I am going to miss her.
This will be good or her...we are kind of enmeshed as it is.
This will be excellent for L and I.  Alone time...usually I explore the world alone or with M...teaching her.
Now I get to experience things with L...like when we were first together...14 years ago...

fake names are on :)

planning and excitement

We did the Alzheimer's walk here today.

It went well...I only wish ending that horrible disease were as easy as the walk.

Lots of really nice people.

L left for Frankfurt today.  I will meet him there on Friday.  I am so excited I can hardly believe it.

2-3 are kind of slow...4 and 5 are the best, but they tell a story so at least watch them all the way through if you can...they are like 4 minutes at the longest.

smarts

Settling down...what a weekend!

Back to being Mommy today.

As you know L and I did lots of celebrating this weekend.
Reconnecting after our many trips and busy times.
Made new promises...vows...searched high and low for new rings...honored the past 11 (14) years together.

It was a roller coaster of a weekend...now we have to go back to the rest of the world.
These times when we recharge are so vital.
Thank goodness we have them and the opportunities to use them...and the smarts to act on them.
