went to my show tonight a city hall
Last night we had an art opening...probably one of our most atteneded.
This week we celebrate the first anniversary of the studio being open.
Last night was the open to the public party...and opening for our show we just hung.
It was a juried show this time.
I am happy to say that we had about 130+ people come through. I was exhausted by the end. We had 5 artists (I was one of them) making pieces of art to be silent auctioned off for our scholarship fund.
M made something. Very proud of her.
What an amazing evening.
I will be uploading photos tomorrow when I am back in the studio.
Today I am relaxing with all.
L just returned on Thurs from his trip to the south and filming a crazy movie with a DH creator and some of the other guys...pretty funny stuff.
Enjoy your weekend all my bloggy friends.
saw the dutch show...and another really great show of woodcuts and etchings...i enjoy being museum members...
we never feel like we have to rush through because we can always go back.
M loved the Dutch part of the show...she loved one of Rembrandt's self portraits and another one that had lots of skulls and fruit and oysters. FUnny.
I walked through and heard the voice of my mentor in art school...I remember looking at slides of these pieces...sitting in the dark while he talked to our class about what was important to notice.
He's passed on now...a great artist in his own right.
Feel sad a little...another person I wish I could have shown the studio.
Going to see Rembrandt today.
Day off, hanging with M.
Think we're both a little sick, but not enough to keep us down.
More later :)
Tomorrow M will get to spend her long save allowance.
I am so tired...
L comes home from his trip Sunday.
He will be jetlagged and life won't really resume to normal until Monday or Tuesday, but him just being on the same continent after 17 days will be good.
I am feeling sad, excited, nostalgic...oh so many more things.
Went out with a friend last night to the NE Alberta Art Walk...this is always a treat...but so many people!
It's a good place to scout for artists for upcoming show at the studio, see friends from the art community...it's a lot less pretentious then the art walk in the Pearl District. Although there are a few areas in the Pearl where they allow street vendors. On Alberta they let the artists set up where ever, first come first get the spot, no fees. More our style...supporting the artist...seeing really tall guys in tutu's on rollerblades...
There is also a diverse community up there being an older neighborhood in Portland and I must not forget the "clown house" which is utterly creepy except for the cute little boy on top of the pop up camper lid (not on a truck just in the yard) dressed as the red power ranger doing ninga moves. The rest of the clan of clowns roams around the yard with make up on...some doing magic tricks...eating fire occasionally...clowns just give me the creeps man.
I made a basket tonight shaped like a head...human sized out of magazine paper.
